Yulzine est un projet de collaboration débuté par des membres de yulblog. Montréal est reconnue pour sa double personalité; le projet présent, Duality, à pour but de montrer cette dualité. Il consiste en un thème annoncé aux quatre jours et pour lequel deux photographes et deux auteurs produisent chacun une photo ou un texte. Les photos sont "mixées" et les textes présentés côte à côte. Les thèmes sont gardés simples et les photographes et auteurs ont carte blanche dans leur façon de le montrer.
About
Yulzine is a collaborative project started by members of yulblog. Montréal is reknowned for it's double personality; the current project, Duality's, goal is to put forward this duality. It consists of a theme announced every four days and for which two photographers and two writers will produce a picture or text. The pictures are mixed and the texts presented side by side. The themes are kept simple and total freedom is given to the writers and photographers in the way they will show it.

Je comprends la détresse de l’attente. Je ne suis pas en position de juger. J’ai 28 ans et je m’inquiète aussi pour l’avenir.
Cependant, j’ai réfléchi. La santé sexuelle c’est comme le reste. Il ne faut pas glisser dans la folie ! Vous demandez-vous chaque matin quel évènement aura raison de vous ? « 20hrs17 rue Darling » est un film, parmi tant d’autres, qui m’a fait réfléchir. S’il n’avait pas attaché ses souliers, il serait mort…
Ahhh ! les “Si”. Nous ne sommes à l’abri de rien même si notre vie nous semble irréprochable ! Il ne faut pas vivre en fonction des risques mais vivre sa vie. Je ne dis pas d’être inconscient mais ce stress ne doit pas contrôler la Vie.
Lorsque vous traverserez la rue la prochaine fois, ce sera peut-être la dernière fois. Il fallait bien aller chercher du lait ! C’est la Vie ! Je dis : il faut se préoccuper de ce qu’elle a de plus beau ! Soyez ambitieux ; et pour le reste, ce n’est que dans le domaine du possible.

Tout d’abord, svp, virez moi la personne qui a choisi les thèmes. Non mais quand même. Disparité. C’est assez plate comme sujet quand, comme moi, on ne sait même pas ce que ça veut dire comme mot. Je vais donc faire comme d’habitude et écrire n’importe quoi. Ça devrait faire l’affaire.Comment

Dark Matter
I hadn’t planned on making my Yulzine “entry” now and certainly not when I had chosen a hard theme but, cancellations and super busy peopleness being what they are, here I am. Writers and photographers here are supposed to interpret the theme as they feel it, my first thought when I started considering “subbing” was how disparity could fit with a post that I’ve had vaguely floating around my head. It was supposed to be called “Dark Matter Of My Life” but disparity will have to do.Comment

A restaurant at the corner of Mont-Royal and St-Denis, a place where the food is fast and served at any time of the day. It’s the middle of the afternoon but it feels like night, with a light rain falling. They sit at a booth looking over the street. They have finished their plates, down to the last bit of food. Réconfortante et rébarbative. La foule, la masse, un essaim d’abeilles, tout comme. Se perdre dans une foule comme on aime se perdre en nature, redevenir UN parmi tant d’autres molécules. Disparates et dispersés, ces atomes se déplacent en un même souffle et deviennent public, mob, manif.Comment

The book of laughter and remembering
I did improv and sketch comedy for about a decade, a lifetime ago it seems. It’s something I miss terribly, but at the same time I don’t know if I could, or would, ever do it again. But without a doubt, it made me the man I am today.Comment

Nous sommes assis sur le toit de l’hôtel Nelligan. Un des plus beaux endroits à Montréal pour aller prendre un verre quand le soleil se couche. La terrasse porte un nom odieux, le Verses Sky, mais les serveuses sont jolies alors ça compense.Comment

J’avais jadis une copine qui travaillait au Brandy’s, pas trop loin du Nelligan. Elle disait que les femmes sont les clients les plus “expérimentals,” ce qui veut dire qu’elles ont plus tendance à essayer des drinks différents et à “mélanger.” Les mecs, eux, optent plus souvent pour des valeurs sûres, genre une bière. Bref, pour ce qui est des filles, ne sait-on jamais!
Pour ce qui est du Belvédère, je connais pas. Faudrais bien que j’essais ça. :)

Of course I had been drinking wwaayyyy before I got to Montreal. Quand même! Back in the day, Vietnamese dep owners were not yet inclined to card 12 year olds for beer and smokes, making drinking & smoking a favorite school yard activity.Comment

Faire les courses
70 tours à faire. La course va débuter tant quelques instants. À l’extérieur, il fait canicule… comme à l’intérieur finalement. Je dois écrire ça simplement pour rajouter une ligne ou peut-être est-ce pour rajouter de l’ambiance. J’essuie la sueur qui perle sur mes bras et j’y pense encore un peu jusqu’à ce que mon esprit se mette à vagabonder ailleurs.Comment
